The Alu-Cab RT-4S rooftop tent is designed for families, overlanders and travel groups who need significantly more space inside their rooftop tent. Its side-folding sleeping section creates a 2235 × 2050 mm sleeping area for up to four adults. This gives the RT-4S considerably more room than traditional two-person rooftop tents while retaining the benefits of a robust hard-shell design.
The aluminium construction provides a solid foundation for frequent and extended travel. Depending on the version, the RT-4S can be configured to open to the left or right side of the vehicle. Gas struts assist with opening the hard shell, while the integrated telescopic ladder also supports the fold-out sleeping section.
Inside, the 70 mm foam mattress provides a comfortable sleeping surface. Twelve integrated storage pockets keep personal items within easy reach, while two LED lights, two USB ports, four USB-C ports and two 12 V sockets provide power directly inside the sleeping area. A transparent skylight brings additional daylight into the tent and, when conditions allow, offers a view of the night sky.
For more self-sufficient travel setups, the RT-4S is solar ready. An integrated heater opening also allows a suitable warm-air heater to be incorporated into the setup. The dual-layer 280 g/m² UV-resistant ripstop fabric and included fly sheet provide additional weather protection for changing travel conditions.
When closed, the RT-4S measures 2400 × 1400 mm; when open, it measures 2400 × 2183 mm. The weight is approximately 118 kg excluding the mattress and telescopic ladder, or around 127 kg including the mattress and ladder. This makes the RT-4S particularly suitable for travellers who deliberately prioritise more space, comfort and equipment in their rooftop tent.
Installation is straightforward: with three loadbars and a recommended minimum width of 1450 mm, the tent can be mounted securely on many suitable vehicles with sufficient roof-load capacity. Thanks to the symmetrical design, you can decide during installation whether the tent should open to the left or right when viewed in the direction of travel.
